THE KINGDOM PRINCIPLES OF MONEY

Principle Number 2

Establish the right mindset about money – Part 6

Pastor Maselo Mosomane

For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.  Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.” (Matthew 25:14-18)

The manifestation of a blessing

All the blessings of God are spiritual and need material form to be concentrated for human consumption. I assume we all understand that a blessing is not an end product in itself but a means to any kind of an end product. Let us see if we cannot crystallize this truth and make it more explicit. A blessing is a resource while consumable products like food, clothing, houses, money, cars, and many others are production of such resource. One blessing is capable of producing a multiplicity of products. When you are blessed, it is like you are placed in an environment conducive to production and everything seems to be contributing towards your achievement. Whatever you touch seems to yield. This is when God out of His loving kindness gives you a divine intervention. At this time heaven and earth seem to be saying yes, to all your obedient effort.

What shall we say to these things?  By definition, a blessing is God’s divine intervention in your life to change your situation. Through His mercy, God changes your situation while through His grace He changes your position.  Life is no longer a struggle but a means to bring glory to God: for Jesus said; “By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit….” (John 15:8) I would rather have a resource than a product. I would rather have a fig tree than figs. “Take care of a fig-tree and you will have figs to eat.” (Proverbs 27:18 - Good News Today’s English Version). I would prefer a blessing than things. I would rather have sheep than lamb chops. “Look after your sheep and cattle as carefully as you can, because wealth is not permanent…. you can make clothes from the wool of your sheep and buy land with the money you get from selling some of your goats. The rest of the goats will provide milk for you and your family, and for your servant-women as well. (Proverbs 27:23, 24a, 26,27 - Good News Today’s English Version)

Listen to this: And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.” Deuteronomy. 28:1-2. “Having” is the materialization of a blessing. Most of the promises of God are conditional. The main condition attached to such promises is obedience.  God commanded that the children of Israel should give full attention to His commandments. Only, and only then, shall his blessings be commanded upon them. We too as children of God are instructed to hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD (our) God, to observe and to DO” (Deuteronomy 28:1).

And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God…” Here are some of those commandments God desire that we should diligently hear and obey; “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.” (Matthew 17:5) Not many days after this utterance, this Son Himself said something that also requires our observation and obedience; “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” (Luke 6: 38) When we begin to obey the Word of God, God creates around us a supporting environment and we begin to find favour with God and man. It is called a blessing.

Let us get this point clear once and for all.  Obedience precedes a blessing. You obey first and are rewarded thereafter.  What comes first between a chicken and an egg?  Of course a chicken!  What comes first between a blessing and obedience? Of course obedience! What comes first between giving and receiving?  Giving my friend!  The source will always precede the product. The producer will always produce the product. The creator will always produce creation. This is a principle and if one cooperates with it, it will always yield required results and even more.

This is the secret the devil has been trying to eclipse for so long.  Jesus said; “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8: 32).  Thank God the truth is making us free never to be bound again.  Thank God we are free.
