Principle Number 2

Establish the right mindset about money – Part 8

“For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.  Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.” (Matthew 25:14-18)

The teachings of the devil say; pay no attention to money because it is the root of all evil. What makes me wonder is that he preaches this kind of message to Christians and not “his people.”  If this were true, wouldn’t he be warning his folks as well?  Do you understand the trick?  He discourages believers from paying attention to money while on the other hand he encourages “his people” to accumulate it at all cost.

They are in fact not his people; I beg your pardon. He hasn’t got any people. He would be too pleased to have some. They are just his captives – willing captives who are more than ready to mob up with him against God. They refuse to accept the truth of the gospel and choose to cling to the lie of the devil.

Stop paying attention to what the devil is saying. Pay attention to what God is saying instead. God loves you and He cares for you.  God stands behind His word to perform it. His promises are yes: amen. He cannot allow His Name to be mocked for He wants to establish His covenant in your life. He said He will be with us “always, even to the end of the age.  Amen” (Matthew 28:20)

The Word of God is life. Jesus said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4: 4)  The Word of God gives life. The word of the devil is death. When the devil speaks, he spits out poison and spreads decay.  Jesus said: “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.”

Stop paying attention to the devil’s teachings; he is not your friend. He has come to steal from you; kill and destroy you. If you hang around him too long, soon you will be part of his statistics. Let us “be sober, (and) vigilant; because (our) adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” (1Peter 5:8)

What has he come to steal?  He has come to steal your ideas and destroy your vision. His aim is to finally destroy your life.  If he can succeed, he will render you down to the level of a mere animal. Animals don’t have ideas or visions; neither do they need money. They are instinctive creatures and thus, cannot develop. They are born to eat or be eaten, make babies and die.  The law of the jungle - survival of the fittest, rules their lives. That’s what separates human beings from animals. But that’s where the devil wants to see us; defeated, down-trotted and barely surviving. No, my friend, we are created in the image of God.

The devil will rejoice to see us grabbling in life, and just barely getting by. This is not what God created man for.  God created us to be more than just survivors but to “fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth” for “…we are more than conquerors through him that loved us and (we) can do all things through Christ who strengthens (us).” (Genesis 1:28b; Romans 8: 37; Philippians 4:13) We are created in the image of God; and God is not an animal. Man can make an image in the form of an animal or bird to resemble God and worship it but my friend God cannot be likened unto images of animals that has no life and cannot speak. It is an insult to Almighty God to think of Him as lifeless image of an animal.

We are not animals and can do better than just surviving. We are created in the image of God and are succeeding! Yes, often times it looks like we are not. But that does not matter. Let it not bother you. The game is not over yet. The score may be two nil, in favour of the opponent but the game is not over yet. Hang around a while, wait for the final score. Our beginning might be small; yet our latter end will be greatly increased.

 You may have lost it all in business and now bagging for employment from your previous clients. Creditors may have handed you over to the attorneys. Your wife and children may have left you all because of your carelessness and silly mistakes. Maybe you have an idea that you believe can turn things around but banks are refusing to finance it.  You may have been reduced to the level of a hobo who turns and scratches rubbish bins for crumbs and begs for bread. You may be knocked down by the affairs of life, eating with swine and sleeping in the street. Your life may have ebbed to the lowest level ever imagined.

I’ve good news for you. The game is not over yet. As long as you can still breath, as long as there is still life in you, you can turn tables around. The present state is not permanent. It may be like the valley of the shadow of death but you are passing through. “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” (Psalm 23: 4)

I once read a statement hung on a wall in the house of one of our church members and I liked it. This is how it goes; “I wish my enemies a long life so that they can witness my success” The purpose of this book is to help those who are already serving their prison terms in the dungeon of their survival mentality, show them what the Word of God says about their position in Christ Jesus and lead them into the world of plenteousness. 

Beloved, man is more than an animal.  He is created in the class of God to exhibit the excellence and the creative ability of Almighty God.  He is, in a small scale, a creator like God. Man is a little god with a little “g.” God said for man to rule and subdue the earth.  Have you come in this earth to eat, make babies and die?  God forbid. The devil will be too pleased to see you relegated to that level.
