How the human race lost it
Pastor Maselo Mosomane
“The LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed. And out of the ground the LORD God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Now a river went out of Eden to water the garden, and from there it parted and became four riverheads. The name of the first is Pishon; it is the one which skirts the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold. And the gold of that land is good. Bdellium and the onyx stone are there.” Genesis 2:8-12
Man was created and placed on an estate of full supply. He lacked nothing. In fact; there was enough to last for eternity. Food was in abundance. Trees and all the vegetation kept on producing and reproducing to make sure that there was enough for man and animals. Minerals and all precious stones were deposited in the belly of the earth and some were lying around as ordinary stones. This is the environment within which man was placed. Wealth! Wealth! Wealth!
I can hear someone saying “hold it Preacher!” If what you are saying is true; how do you account for the poverty that’s ravaging the communities of the earth? If what you are saying is worth paying attention to, what do you say about all the homeless people in every city of the world? Have you been to the rural areas and witness the kind of hardships people are going through every day?
Well; the argument is valid in every respect; Sir. First; it won’t help us if we are just going to hold on to the evidence and glorify the situation. I think it will do us better to find out why we find ourselves in this predicament. If God provided so much for mankind; why so many people are suffering?
There are, of course many approaches to this problem. There is a political approach, an economic approach, a developmental approach, a social approach, a psychological approach and many others. We at Pool of Life Ministries International choose to approach this problem the bible way. We acknowledge with respect that there are other avenues we might search; but they are all informed by human intelligence. Man was not formed by human understanding and therefore his problems cannot be completely solved by a human mind or hand. As much as we know that a BMW vehicle’s problem will only be sufficiently solved by BMW manufacturers; so shall man’s problem also be solved by his manufacturer i.e. God. Yes; just as there will always be generic spares for every vehicle or product; even in the case of man there will always be generic answers.
Since the earth was created by God; we choose to derive our answers from Him. God is the source of all creation and He will be the source of all its solutions. Many people hear this and they doubt. They do so because of their orientation. We were all orientated to believe that man has the answers for his problems. We were raised up with this attitude. Our education systems invigorated this and it is hard to move in any direction contrary. We were taught to be big thinkers and it is sad to say that this belief has set as concrete in our minds and we are moving astray.
Hear me oh brothers and sisters; all human solutions are temporary. Man can only provide a provisional solution; it does not matter how intelligent he might be. The same is with material or monetary solutions; they also provide temporary solutions. We are taught that money solves all the problems but that statement is valid until the next recession. King Solomon; the richest man who ever lived tried that route but towards the end of his life he said “I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and indeed, all is vanity and grasping for the wind.” Ecclesiastes 1:14. That’s all man and his intelligence can do; chase after the wind.
The bible tells us in Genesis 3 from verse one that there was one day an uninvited guest in the garden and he caused all the hardships we are going through today. The opening verse begins the narration by identifying the guest. “Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?” The bible identifies the guest as the serpent. Throughout the bible the term “serpent” is used to describe Satan. Let’s look at another portion of scripture; “and war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Revelation 12: 7-9. The serpent in Genesis three is the same serpent described in Revelation twelve. It is called the great dragon; that serpent of old; the Devil and Satan.
We’ve got no doubt in our minds that the visitor that day in the garden was Satan. Satan visited the earth. It was not a ceremonial visit; he was cast to the earth when he lost the battle with Michael; when no place was found for him and his angels. He and his angels were cast out of heaven. Jesus says; “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.” Luke 10:18. Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having treat wrath, because he knows that he has a short time. Revelation 12:12
Satan lost his estate in heaven when he was exploded with pride. When he was thrown out he came to our earth and found man in his wealthiest estate. He wanted what man had. His first choice was heaven but when he failed to gain it he headed for the second choice – the earth. When he arrived he found man; Adam and his wife Eve in the garden surrounded by plenteousness. He wanted not part of it; not some of it; he wanted it all. He wanted to control the earth and all that God gave to man when He said “…fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion.” Genesis 1:28
What did Satan want to have? He wanted to have the earth; not only the earth; and all that is in the earth. He wanted to SUBDUE the earth and have DOMINION over it. He wanted to have control over the wealth of the earth - The sardius, topaz, and diamond, beryl, onyx, and jasper, sapphire, turquoise, and emerald with gold and many other things on the earth. He wanted to control all the “… the fish of the sea, …the birds of the air, … every living thing that moves on the earth.” Genesis 1:28
But he had a big hurdle for the earth was already owned. Man owned the earth already and he had a title deed. For Satan to have the earth he had to overcome man first – which he did. How did he do that?
HE LIED TO EVE. When Adam joint the episode; Satan grabbed the title deed and off he went. MAN LOST IT ALL. All who were born to man after that incident were born into slavery. They found the earth which was supposed to be their home looted. The sardius, topaz, and diamond, beryl, onyx, and jasper, sapphire, turquoise, and emerald with gold and many other gems; all registered in the name of Satan for he has the title deed. Now man has to work for what was rightfully his. Hard facts; isn’t it?
