“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.” Hebrews 12:1-2 NLT
The race we are engaged in has a starting point and a finishing point. We don’t just run without aim. We know where we come from and we know where we are headed to. We are not ignorant people who are running like we are running away from some sort of threat or danger – no, we know where we are running from and where we are running to. This is what makes our race different from other races of faith.
There was once a time of ignorance in all the nations of the world. God tolerated our ignorance though of course our ignorance warranted our punishment; He ignored our ignorance. “Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked” Acts 17:30. He overlooked the ignorance of the nations. Because of this; many people or nations think that God approves ignorance. Overlooking does not mean approval. The fact that a mistake has been overlooked does not necessarily legitimize it.
