GOOD THINGS ARE WORTH WAITING FOR

Part 5

Pastor Maselo Mosomane

"Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven" Acts 1:4-5

The church is in a final episode of the drama. She is in a waiting period; so to say, for the return – the second coming of her Lord and Saviour; Jesus Christ. Two angels who appeared to the disciples in the form of 'two men' that afternoon said; "...but someday He will return from heaven in the same way you saw Him go" NLT

The New Testament is full of incidents and promises that Jesus made about Himself and they were all fulfilled. Everything He said about Himself; He was able to realize.

He said; "I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE" John 6:34. He went on to feed 5000 thousand people. Matthew 14:13-21. He took five loaves of barley and two small fish, bless them and fed five thousand people. They gathered fragments that remained and filled twelve baskets.

He continued to feed four thousand people. Mark 8:1-10. Nothing He said was left unaccomplished. He said I am the bread of life and He went on to feed nine thousand people at different intervals. Jesus is the Bread of Life.

He said "I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD" John 8:12. After the death of John the Baptist Jesus left Nazareth and came and dwelled in Capernaum in the regions of Zebulun and Naphtali by the sea of Galilee. Matthew writes that this Jesus did that; that it might be fulfilled what was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying; "the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, by the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles: the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light. Upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death, Light has dawned" Matthew 4:15-16. He came into the darkest regions of the Gentiles and became a beacon of light. Wherever He went darkness fled. Jesus is the Light of the World. What He said about Himself, He was able to bring to pass.

One day He said this in the presence of the Pharisees; "I AM THE DOOR" John 10:10:9. With this He meant that without Him, no one will ever enter into a relationship with God. All those who will enter the kingdom of God will have to enter through Him. He earlier said; "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me" John 14:6. The truth still remains that no one can be saved through anyone else except Jesus. He is the door into heaven itself.

What shall we say? To Mary He said; I AM THE RESURRECTION John 11:25. He proved it when He raised a young girl from the dead and asked that they give her something to eat. Mark 5:35-43. I supposed the sceptic said she was not really dead. One day He stopped the funeral procession and raised the young boy from the dead. Luke 7:11-15. Doubting Thomases said the lad was not really dead; he was in a prolonged comma.

One day as Jesus was with His disciples, a 'letter' was delivered to Him from Mary and Martha; the sisters of Lazarus. He opened the letter and it said His friend Lazarus was ill. This time Jesus delayed for four days. He said to His disciples that Lazarus's sickness was not unto death. After four days Jesus said to His disciples "Our friend Lazarus sleeps, but I go that I may wake him up" John 11:11. You know the rest of the story. Jesus went down and raised Lazarus from the dead after he had been in the grave for four days. You tell me you've been sick for four days? Lazarus was dead for four days. He is the Resurrection and the Life. With Him four days in the grave make no difference.

He finally said; I WILL COME AGAIN John 14:3 Friend with all the evidence, I've got no doubt in my mind that He will come again. What is important to me is that He said He will come again. I believe it and that settles it. If He said all these things about Himself and all of them came to pass; what reason do I advance that this time He will not honour His promise?

Friend; Jesus is coming again and WE ARE WAITING. Who are you to doubt someone with so much evidence yet have no problem believing so many others with little or no evidence at all?

Someone says; it's long that they said He is coming again. How long should we still wait? Didn't you know that your time and God's time are not the same? A day with God can be thousand days and thousand days can be one day. Why are you so much in a hurry? Are you ready for Him? Or is it just one of those curious utterances full of argument and unbelief? If you don't believe in Him; why worry about His second coming?

I'll tell you; we who believe in Him are waiting for that day. We are ready and prepared to wait even more because we know that He will finally come. It is not important when He will come; the important thing with us is that He will finally come.

The Hebrew people said it's taking long; but finally the Deliverer came in the person of Moses and they left Egypt. The nation of Israel waited and was tempted to doubt the coming of the Messiah. What happened? A virgin conceived and bore a child and His name was Jesus – Messiah the Deliverer. Tommy Saaiden used to sing this son;

"He's coming soon, there's no doubt

Keep looking up, He may come tonight

It may be in the morning; it may be at noon

I don't know when He's coming

But I know He's coming soon

Behold, I am coming quickly! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book. Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen "Revelations 22:7, 27.

WE WHO BELIEVE IN HIM KNOW THAT HE IS COMING SOON AND WE ARE WILLING TO WAIT; FOR ALL GOOD THINGS ARE WORTH WAITING FOR.
